About Me
I have always felt a strong push to utilize creative strategies in everything I do. Encouragement from my mother and brother, both SCAD graduates, has helped me in many ways. You could say, creativity has been a crucial part of my upbringing.
In the past few years, my focus on potential career possibilities has shifted from medical to art. While taking theater, color guard, art appreciation, and advanced visual arts I have experimented and learned a great deal about various art mediums.
In high school, I participated in a large variety of activities including clubs, sports, as well as classes geared towards different career pathways. I focused on aiding the community through healthcare, education, and volunteering with groups that benefit individuals with special needs. Below are my major accomplishments
– Volunteer Activities –
- At the conclusion of my high school career in June of 2020, I will have participated in over 120 service hours of hospital clinicals at Caromont Hospital, vision screening for elementary students, and nursing home care services. I have also organized multiple blood drives through the organization, Blood Connections.
- I’ve volunteered at numerous carnivals for New Hope and Page elementary. I”ve also aided in exam tutoring for biology, Pleasant Ridge elementary Beautification Event, and Carr elementary Science Night.
- I’ve attended special needs events such as the Polar Plunge, Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine, Special Olympics, Buddy Lunches, and Unify Prom.
– Clubs and Sports –
- I competed in cross country and swim all four years of high school. I also had the opportunity to lead as a team captain of both groups during my senior year. Freshman year I competed in track. Then my Sophomore and Junior years I joined the varsity soccer team.
- I joined the Interact, Bolts, National Honor Society, Buddy, BETA and HOSA clubs. My Senior year of HOSA I acted as a leadership council member.
- I also participated in color guard as part of the Storm marching band. I’ve performed in multiple competitions, high school football games, pep rallies, and parades,
– Achievements –
- I earned certifications for OSHA, American Heat Association CPR and Basic First Aid, Kenneth Royall Vision Screening, Stop the Bleed, and am expected to graduate as a Certified Nurse Aide. I will also be earning my WorkKeys Certification by June of 2020.
- I earned the Mathematics Award, Highest Average Biology award, Highest Average Theater Art award, Cross Country MVP (2017 and 2018), and Cross Country Coaches Award (2019). I was selected to join the Junior Marshal group as part of the top 10% of my class. I’ve also had multiple art pieces on display and have been a selected participant for Gaston County’s “Through an Artist’s Eye” exhibit.
